HD Camera for
Android
For
this project I decided to do a review on the Android app “HD Camera for
Android”. The app can be used as an alternate instead of the default camera
built into the phone and is found on the Play Store for either Androids or
Samsung smart phones. The app includes the option to use either a camera, video
recorder or take a panorama picture.
To start off, the camera on this
app is decent. I myself always prefer to use the default camera on the Samsung
because it has one of the best cameras smart phones have to offer. Setting that
thought aside, the app is actually quite handy. It
includes features such as options to tweak white adjustments and exposure, HDR
which is very handy, flash and a timer.
Here, I have taken 2 very similar pictures of
the one and only Joe Francis to compare the default camera (Left) to the app's camera (Right).
As you can see, the app does not handle room lighting very well but that is where
white adjustments and exposure becomes useful.
The
only complaint I have for this app is its panorama function. Yes the option to
use it is there but I would not recommend it at all. Below are two panoramas of
my photography class and the difference is very noticeable.
The top photo is a panorama taken
with the built-in camera for the Samsung smart phone where the bottom is a
panorama taken with the app. Not only is the picture radius smaller with the
app, but the photo it-self is much more choppy and blurry.
In conclusion, the app "HD
Camera for Android" is not a bad app. I would much rather prefer and
suggest for an Android or Samsung smart phone owner to use their phone's
default camera because of the fact that they have some of the best cameras
smart phones have to offer. Other than the fact that the panorama is terrible
with this app, both the pictures and videos come out very pleasing. If for
whatever reason I had to use an alternate camera app for my phone it would most
likely be this one.
